Choosing Items for an Emotive-intensive Lexicon

Little or no research has been done on the emotional state of persons, groups, or nations using web based data. This leaves a large void in our understanding of basic human characteristics and their relation to economic and other outcomes. A key ingredient to making progress in these areas is to develop an emotion specific lexicon that can be used to select relevant online texts and that can be used to measure intensity. An approach to doing this is discussed.
